β(L)-Bi2Mo2O9: A new, highly active and selective, mild oxidation bismuth molybdate catalyst

Highlights : A new bismuth molybdate (L)-Bi2Mo2O9 has been discovered and its structure solved . This phase apears to be a low temperature polymorphic form of -Bi2Mo2O9. It is stable up to 532°C where it transforms to the know high temperature form Tested in propene oxidation, it is as active and selective as -Bi2Mo3O12
